I mainly blog over on my Myspace account but I figured I would also put it here since I am trying to blog here more often. I don't know why, it feels like I am talking to myself. Oh well. Here is my blog:
Ok, I work thirds tonight. I have to be in at 9pm and stay for 10 hours til 7am. The time is 2pm. I lay down with hopes of getting 5 hours of sleep before my shift today. I even have arranged with the girls's Godmother for her to pick them up from school so that I wouldn't have to worry about them! So what could possibly go wrong with this plan????
Wait for it....
At three-ish, I wake up to the loudest intermittent grinding sound. Try as I may, I couldn't tune it out no matter what I tried. After all, I was the one that was out of the normal sync of things-being that I was trying to sleep in the middle of the day. If it had been the neighbor across the street that sort of runs a little shop out of his garage, I may have just dealt with it and suffered through...But no....this intense noise was coming from the driveway of the empty house directly across the street that is vacant and for sale. The owners (or who ever) decided to park their crappy boat in the driveway and work on it with POWER TOOLS FROM HELL (I would have still been able to deal with the noise of someone running the lawnmower in my living room to give you an idea of just how insane this noise level was. I decided I was going to go outside and say something since they are officially on my turf now--they don't live there! I walked over there and the guy with the PTFH couldn't even hear me but there was another guy in the boat that had to get his attention. I politely (trying not to grit my teeth) informed them that I worked third shift and asked them just how long they planned on being at it. The PTFH guy was a fucking moron and just looked blankly at me but the other guy apologized and estimated only another 30 minutes. I thanked him and turned and came back in the house.
Ok, I know I have a tendency to get a little wordy in my blogs but its for good reason. I really do believe that this noise exceeded any rationally expected-middle-of-the-day noise. (lawn mower, leaf blower, loud children, normal automotive repair, etc.) Not to mention, how dare these assholes bring their crappy shit to repair into a neighborhood they don't even live in! Thats just rude!! Oh well. I am probably just pissed off because I am tired. Thats all I got for now. Thanks for listening. Think sleepy thoughts in my direction!!!!

The hat/scarf fiasco
Well, I finished up the scarf/hat combo for my hubby. I thought it turned out really well..that is until I gave it to him.......grr. He thought it looked a might-bit girly. "But Honey, its Camo." "Yeah, and its CROCHETED." Like that instantly takes it down a few marks in the Manly category. Whatever...it looked good on him and it kept him warm. So after a few minutes, he starts quoting Firefly.
Jayne: (wearing ugly homemade hat) "How's it sit? Pretty cunning, don'tchya think?"
Kaylee: "I think it's the sweetest hat ever."
Book: "Makes a statement."
Jayne: "Yeah, yeah!"
Wash: "A man walks down the street in that hat, people know he's not afraid of anything."
Jayne: "Damn straight."

So I am mixed with emotion. On one hand I am offended but on the other hand, I can't stop laughing! So I found a happy medium and considered it funny by calling him Jayne for the rest of the time. True Hi-larity had ensued. And if nothing else...it did its job and kept my honey's head warm. So there.
(I think I will be making him an "actual" Jayne Cobb hat for Christmas.)

My first Wife-ly challenge
We are going to Cedar Point this weekend and Lucas looked up the weather report and it is calling for some chilly fall weather. Sunny--but chilly. He said we should look through the closet and dig out our scarves and hats since we'll be outside the whole time. I chime in with, "Hey, I could MAKE you a new hat and scarf!!!". I was really excited at the prospects of making my new husband something to wear for the winter. Well, his response was less than stellar. He tells me that he believes in my work and that my work is really good....I just never finish anything. Ok, this bothers me GREATLY because he doesn't quite grasp the reason I knit/crochet. I knit/crochet to keep my hands busy. I have Trichotillomania and I need something to occupy my hands. I also will start a project to practice. It drives him batty when I get half way through what he thinks is a project only to tear it all out and start something new!! I don't always have a finished product in my mind when I just dink around with my yarn. When I do have a specific goal, I will always finish it.
So, back to the wife-ly challenge. On wednesday I started the scarf and finished it on thursday. The hat was started and finished in one sitting on thursday night after my work was complete on third shift at the hospital. He wanted a camo print and that is what he is getting!! I am very pleased with them. I will post a picture of them after I take one!! I will try to get one of him in it while we are at Cedar Point.

Feels kinda strange
Ok, I must admit, I like the format of this blog, I just don't like how I can't seem to find anybody. I found Tiny T's blog but it won't let me add her to my list of blogs to follow. Her blog led me to my witty friend, Carrie's blog. And I think she has an unnatural obsession with eyebrows!! No, really...just read her blog! Very talented and gifted with words she is.
So that makes a grand total of TWO blogs I found on here. Humph. Well, maybe I will start blogging here and it might catch on to others. Who knows.
